Individual Tree Crown Delineation Method Based on Multi-Criteria Graph Using Geometric and Spectral Information: Application to Several Temperate Forest Sites
نویسندگان
چکیده
Individual tree crown (ITC) delineation in temperate forests is challenging owing to the presence of broadleaved species with overlapping crowns. Mixed coniferous/deciduous characteristics that differ type thus require a flexible method delineation. The ITC based on multi-criteria graph (MCG-Tree) addresses this problem monospecific or mixed by combining geometric and spectral information. was used segment trees three forest sites different (tree types, distribution, planted natural forest). Compared state-of-the-art watershed segmentation approach, our increased performance up 25%. Our results showed main criterion improve quality related radius (performance improvement around 8%). Coniferous/deciduous classification automatically adapts MCG-Tree criteria tree. Promising are then obtained for forests.

Forest Species Classification and Tree Crown Delineation Using Quickbird Imagery
Efficient forest management requires detailed knowledge of forest stands, including species information and individual tree parameters. Remote sensing data are increasingly being used to investigate forest classification at both coarse and fine levels. In this paper, we first examined the capability of QuickBird multispectral imagery for species level forest classification using eCognition soft...
متن کاملCanopy Fuel Load Mapping of Mediterranean Pine Sites Based on Individual Tree-Crown Delineation
This study presents an individual tree-crown-based approach for canopy fuel load estimation and mapping in two Mediterranean pine stands. Based on destructive sampling, an allometric equation was developed for the estimation of crown fuel weight considering only pine crown width, a tree characteristic that can be estimated from passive imagery. Two high resolution images were used originally fo...
متن کاملIndividual Tree Crown Delineation Using Multi-scale Segmentation of Aerial Imagery
With the development of remote sensing techniques, parameters of individual trees for forest inventory can be extracted efficiently from high-resolution remote sensing imagery or LiDAR (light detection and ranging) data rather than using field surveys [1]-[4]. As a prerequisite step, individual tree crown (ITC) delineation from highresolution imagery or LiDAR data is one critical issue in curre...
متن کاملComparison of Individual Tree Crown Detection and Delineation Methods
Efficient forest management increases the demand for detailed, timely information. High spatial resolution remotely sensed imagery provides viable sources and opportunities for automated forest interpretation at an individual tree level. Recent research, which aims at providing tree-based forest inventory measurements, has considered automatic individual tree crown detection and delineation. A ...
متن کاملIndividual Tree Crown Delineation from Airborne Laser Scanning for Diseased Larch Forest Stands
Airborne laser scanning (ALS) can be utilised to derive canopy height models (CHMs) for individual tree crown (ITC) delineation. In the case of forest areas subject to defoliation and dieback as a result of disease, increased irregularities across the canopy can add complications to the segmentation of ITCs. Research has yet to address this issue in order to suggest appropriate techniques to ap...
